Purchase options and add-ons

  • SOF TOURNIQUET – Purposeful features of this tourniquet allow for smoother and faster one-handed and two-handed application to most effectively stop the bleeding during emergencies.
  • COMPRESSION BAND WITH BUCKLE – The tourniquet easily slides over an arm or leg. You can also unclip the rugged buckle to fit around hard-to-reach areas, such as a trapped limb. The band maximizes compression and glides through the buckle for quick, snag-free operation.
  • WINDLASS & CLIP – Designed with aircraft-grade aluminum and grip-friendly texture. The assistance clip holds the windlass in place until you can secure it to the tri-ring lock, which enhances control during one-handed application.
  • TRI-RING LOCK – Secure the windlass to the lock to complete the application. It prevents it from shifting during patient movement.
  • PERFECT FOR MILITARY AND EMS – Our tourniquets are preferred by elite military forces, police departments, fire and EMS agencies/services, but are also great for the general public.

Product Description

The SOF Tactical Tourniquet-Wide (SOFTT-W) is the result of an exhaustive 24-month research initiative compiling end-user research and laboratory studies to develop a more effective, easier-to-use tourniquet for all environments. High-strength, light-weight alloy components are used in critical areas of function ensuring reliability in the most challenging of circumstances and on the largest of limbs. This was all accomplished while reducing the weight by around 15%. The high-strength hook and buckle interface was designed for security, strength, and ease of application. The design allows for rapid routing of the tourniquet strap while eliminating need for re-threading the webbing through a buckle. By eliminating the requirement to re-route the webbing the tourniquet is easier to use when operating under stress. This reduces application time, which can result in reduced levels of blood loss and better quality patient care. The SOFTT-W also has a true 1 ½" tourniquet strap providing a wider compression pattern than most standard tourniquets, or tourniquets with a 1" constricting band moving through a 1 ½" sleeve. This broader compression pattern allows for increased patient comfort and additional arterial compression. The tourniquet handle is machined from a single piece of high strength aluminum bar stock. The strength of the handle virtually eliminates the risk of product failure. It is then anodized to minimize the products signature in a tactical environment. Each tourniquet ships with two UV resistant black rubber bands for mounting to your individual equipment. Dimensions: 5" H x 2" W x 1.75" D Weight: 4 oz

    Broken Windless Clip
The windless clip broke. I carried it on my ankle holster and have not used it once. May I get a replacement?

I pray I never have to use this, but if I do, I am confident in it's ability to save a life. It's extremely durable and compact, making it easier to store and carry along with you, something that the CAT struggles with. The design is great with multiple ways to secure the windless, and the options in color is also a pretty cool add on. Would highly recommend for someone looking for a compact and reliable TQ

Everyone should have one and know how to use it, not just law enforcement, military or rescue organizations either. Do you hunt? Do you work around blades or heavy equipment? It might be worth picking one up to save your life or someone else's. I know how to use a tourniquet but I am not a trainer so I'll only give one crucial tip, never use this on someone's neck! lol

This is a good tourniquet though, the tightening handle is aluminum with a heavily knurled grip which is going to be more useful than slippery plastic if your hands are bloody. The buckle is designed for speed and ease of use, no need to feed the slack through any slots, the middle bar moves with the tension, just yank it down and it will lock there. There is a small stitched on time tab, but you should be writing that on their forehead anyway. One thing I'm not too sure about is the securing of the handle, it clips into a triangular d ring and that's it. I would imagine that there would be enough pressure on the properly deployed tourniquet to keep the handle in place but a velcro strap could ensure that it stays put during movement or evac.

Properly folded up the device measures 5.25" long, 2" wide, 1.75" thick.

I was in the process of equipping a new wilderness trauma kit. When your life may be at stake, you want gear that won’t fail. The SOF Tactical Tourniquet-Wide is one of the only two tourniquets recommended by the combat medics. It features an aluminum windlass bar and that extra strength was important to me. It’s also a bit wider. It truly professional grade gear.

Compared to a SOF purchased from a known source (KS), they look almost identical. The one from Amazon was manufactured 1 year and 3 moths before the KS.

The significant difference is the windless on the Amazon is not as shiny as the KS and the font color on the Amazon is a little darker than the KS; the font is the same.

The materials, the stitching and the documentation look identical.

I have a Gen 3 with all metal buckles, which I like better.

Please note, I have not used this tourniquet (TQ) on an actual wound. This review is based on my previous experience and training with other TQs and my impression of this one.

Basically, this offers all the advantages of a CAT TQ, such as one handed application and windlass operation (an absolute must in TQs for personal use since the wound may be on an arm) but with several improvements to what I considered shortfalls on the CATs as well. For instance, the smooth plastic windlass is replaced with a metal one that has diamond shaped texture for grip, making it much easier to wind single handed especially when wet (or bloody) and eliminates a failure point, IE, windlass breakage. The buckles and anchor points are metal as well for added strength. The straps also seem to be a much higher quality and the extra half inch of width surely means to better blood vessel compression and doesn't seem to cut into the skin as much. The TQ can be folded and packed much flatter as well which is good if you have it in a streamlined pouch. It also comes with 2 UV proof rubber bands, great for people who like to carry TQs on their gear in the open. Yes it is significantly more expensive than a CAT TQ but I for one am willing to spend the $10 on something I'm trusting my life to.
