Great helmets

I just received the ATELITE. It is very comfortable and much lighter than the helmet I was issued. The micro lettuce pads, allow air to flow in between your head and the shell of the helmet. The bump helmet will be very nice for applications when I am not needing ballistics protection. The only issue I had was my NVG Wilcox mount did not fit the shroud but a couple quick passes of a file and it fits like a glove.

Ballistic Helmet ATE® Lite HHV

I brought it back a star for only one reason. The retention strap is designed funky. The chin cup can center on your chin, but you have to adjust the grommets to do so and awkwardly adjust the buckles at various and uneven locations. The right side strap that is nearest to your cheek pretty much lays straight on the front of your cheek bone with the strap in your field of view and angling forward instead of straight down. The left strap where the magnetic buckle lies goes the opposite direction back towards the rear of your jaw. No matter what I did to get the straps straight, the chin cup would be way off center and most towards the buckle making it incredibly uncomfortable. Even the instructional video showed the chin cup was off center on the instructor. My opinion, the left side temple strap needs to be adjusted back roughly 1.5” from the chin cup along the jaw strap and it will end up center. My suggestion is to get the WENDY retention strap with the BOA system as it is far superior, lines up even with all straps and adjusting buckles and does not block your field of visibility. Other than that, the helmet slaps and I love the mesh pads as it breathes amazingly well. Plus, they give you a Rambo headband and a skully to mitigate the “waffle skin” effect for those that don’t have hair that goes down to their eyebrows or are bald.
