Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) proposed a tax relief that would see a six-week tax holiday on guns, ammo, and gear.
Nestled in the 32-page Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget, the “Second Amendment Summer” would run from May 26, 2025, to July 4, 2025.

The “Second Amendment Summer” would temporarily eliminate sales tax on firearms, ammunition, and accessories, such as charging handles, cleaning kits, optics, and holsters. However, it excludes apparel and antique firearms.
Florida’s current sales tax rate is 6%, which means that Floridians would save around $30 on something like a Glock 19 — enough to buy a couple of boxes of ammo.
The tax holiday was part of DeSantis’ proposed $115.6 billion state budget, which also included raises for police and firefighters, tax-exempt periods for disaster emergency supplies, and back-to-school necessities.

Louisiana and Mississippi currently have Second Amendment tax holidays, but they are relegated to a single three-day weekend in the fall. Other states, such as Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, and Ohio, have also proposed similar tax breaks for their residents.
DeSantis’ office says this tax break will ultimately save residents about $8 million total.

Instead of a tax break for those purchasing under the 2a,, how about DeSantis' government stop killing those exercising their 2a rights? There was the service man shot for being lawfully in his residence, while lawfully possessing a firearm. There was the motorist recently shot wow lawfully caring and softly complying with police directions during a traffic stop.
