Catering to the over-50 audience, optics maker Holosun announced a brand new red dot aimed at making range trips easier.
Dubbed the HS-BOOM, this brand new red dot features bifocal technology allowing aging shooters to easily land shots on target.
The HS-BOOM (Boomer Optic of Magnification) looks to solve the problem that many of the Boomer generation now face — aging eyes.

This red dot allows Boomers to more easily see the dot and target without playing musical chairs with their eyeglasses.
“We saw a need that just wasn’t being met by our competitors,” A Holosun spokesperson told Pew Pew Tactical.
“Our older customers were squinting and tilting their heads like confused owls just to get a clear sight picture. We knew we had to step in and give them an optic just for them.”

Holosun told us the HS-BOOM offers innovative features that are sure to please the elderly, including:
- Bifocal Reticle Technology — The HS-BOOM comes with this new advanced reticle that features a crisp red dot on its upper portion paired with a 1.5x magnified lower portion, perfect for reading fine print on ammo boxes.
- BoomerMode Auto Adjust — Sense the angle you’re tilting your head and adjusts for it automatically, ensuring a perfect shooting angle even when grumbling about “kids these days.”
- AudioBook Integration — Syncs via Bluetooth (don’t worry, your oldest kid can set it up) to play your favorite audiobooks of classic gun manuals and WWII material, all narrated by Clint Eastwood.
Holosun said initial testing showed Boomers already singing its praises.

“This thing changed my life,” Carl Thompson, 64, told Pew Pew Tactical. “I don’t have to switch between my shooting glasses and my bifocals every five minutes anymore. And I finally figured out how to read the tiny numbers on my reloading scale. Game changer.”
“I was skeptical at first, but when I saw it had a ‘back-in-my-day’ mode that dims the reticle when I start ranting about how things used to be cheaper, I knew this was the optic for me,” said another early user.
The HS-BOOM officially launches today, April 1, 2025, with an MSRP of $420. Holosun said it is accepting checks and money orders in addition to traditional payment options like credit cards.

As a boomer myself, I need one of these! Too bad it's an April Fools joke.
I switched to green dots over red dots because green works better with my astigmatism (YMMV).
That was good. I LOL'd at the "audiobook integration". That was funny.
I thought that would be a crowd pleaser. :)
Har har
Got me ....i need one
A prescription red dot would sell!
