If you’re a hunter, precision shooter, or prepper, I don’t need to tell you that the gear we use is heavy. You’d better have a pack that’s capable of hauling all that equipment.

Eberlestock is in the process of beefing up its Mission ecosystem, and the latest addition is a rucksack worthy of sustained military operations, western big-game hunts, and everything in between. Meet the Eberlestock Mission Ruck.

Here’s everything you need to know about this new pack and the Mission system overall.

Let’s hit the basics first. The Ruck is a 79-liter (4,834-cubic-inch) pack designed for multiple days in the backcountry. It’s made from 500D nylon ripstop in coyote brown, military green, or Multicam.

The wide-open main compartment has room for larger items like a sleeping bag, shelter, and cold-weather clothing, while the outside is covered in both conventional and laser-cut MOLLE for additional gear pouches or an IFAK. Up top, there’s a generously sized lid compartment for things you need to keep readily available.

The Ruck is built to work with the Mission EMOD Frame. The pack zips to the frame on each side, but there are also buckles for compression straps so you can cinch it down when the main compartment isn’t full. Unlike Eberlestock’s hunting-focused packs, this system is designed specifically to work with a plate carrier and body armor.

The pack itself weighs 3.5 pounds. Add the heavy-duty EMOD frame, and you’re still only looking at 6.5 pounds for a system that can handle a serious amount of gear without slowing you down.

Eberlestock already offers a healthy range of EMOD components individually, including a frame, rifle carrier, assault pack, medic pack, and a bunch of capacity-boosting expansion pouches. You can piece them together one by one or buy the full kit in either coyote brown or Multicam.

The new Mission Ruck opens the EMOD system up to sustained operations, extended hunting trips, and shooting courses that require a bunch of bulky gear.

Heading out to a PRS match or a long-range school? Add the Mission ARC and zipper extensions to securely layer your precision rifle in a scabbard between the pack and the frame.

You can also strip the system down by pairing an assault pack or medical kit with the frame.

Eberlestock lists an MSRP of $329 for the Mission Ruck and $269 for the Mission EMOD Frame, or you can buy the full kit with an assault pack instead of the Ruck for $595.
