Technology moves fast, doesn’t it? That’s especially true in the world of thermal optics.

A slew of new rifle scopes is bringing new tech to the market at prices the recreational shooter can afford. Let’s check out the new line of ATN ThOR 6 thermal rifle scopes!

Both the ThOR 6 Elite and ThOR 6 Mini feature the brand’s sixth-generation thermal engine, but they cover two different ends of the capability spectrum and serve two different budgets.

Both take advantage of artificial intelligence to generate AI-sharpened images that give you a clearer view of the target and its surroundings. They feature hot-point tracking that automatically highlights the warmest point in your field of view. A picture-in-picture display gives you a detailed look at your point of aim without losing situational awareness, and reticle transparency is adjustable.

Because the optic’s brain is always working, Recoil Activated Video senses when you take a shot, and starts the recorded video 10 seconds prior to make sure you never miss the action while you’re fumbling with buttons.

Since these optics are designed for use in all kinds of weather, they’re built to handle the elements and feature simple, glove-friendly controls.

Beyond those common features, there are several key differences. Let’s see what separates the ThOR 6 Elite and ThOR6 Mini.

ATN ThOR 6 Elite Specs & Features

If distance shooting is the name of the game, the ThOR 6 Elite is for you. There are seven submodels to choose from.

Variable magnification options include 2.5-20, 3.5-28; 2-16, and 3-24.

Two sensors are available: 384x288 and 640x512. Both feature 12-micron pixel pitch and thermal sensitivity of less than or equal to 15 mK noise equivalent temperature difference.

All variants come with a 1920x1080-pixel OLED display, a refresh rate of 50 hertz, and 64 gigabytes of onboard storage.

If all these technical specs have your head spinning, there’s an ATN blog post that explains the basics of what you need to know.

Basically, you need to remember that thermal optics are closer to a digital camera than a rifle scope. The ThOR 6 series improved the shooting experience with better image quality and faster processing than its predecessors.

ATN lists a starting MSRP of $2,195 for the ThOR 6 Elite.

It’s an exciting piece of tech, but I’m even more jazzed about the budget-friendly ThOR 6 Mini. If night hunts are more of a casual hobby than a major passion, give this family of compact thermals a look.

ATN ThOR 6 Mini Specs & Features

While the ThOR 6 Elite is built for long-distance bolt guns and AR-10s, the ThOR6 Mini is better suited to an AR-15 – think coyote vs hog hunting. It’s lighter, smaller, and more maneuverable on the go.

There are still plenty of magnification and sensor options. These include a 256x192 sensor that gets the price down below a grand.

This is the budget end of the lineup, but it still comes with new Gen 6 updates and familiar features ATN customers have come to expect, like multiple color modes, a variety of reticles, and one-shot-zero capability.

ATN lists a starting MSRP of $985 for the ThOR 6 Mini.
