How We Chose the Best Gifts for Gun Lovers
I'm Jacki, and I'm the Editor-in-Chief here at Pew Pew Tactical. These recommendations are based on the input of our staff of editors and reviewers who have hands-on time with the products we recommend.
I chose to focus on general gifts that any gun lover would want...not something that's very subject to personal taste or type of gun.
We then broke it down into several price categories:
- $25 and Under
- $25-$50 Gifts
- $50-$100 Gifts
- $100+ Gifts
There's a little mix of everything for everybody!
$25 and Under Gifts for Gun Lovers
Shooting Targets
If there's one thing a gun lover can always use more of, it's ammo and shooting targets.
Since you might not know what caliber they are shooting (or if you do, click here for ammo suggestions), you can't go wrong with targets that easily show where you've hit.
Metal Ammo Cans

Everyone can use more ammo cans to hold small accessories and...ammo.
I like the size of the .50 Caliber ammo can, but you can also opt for the smaller .30 Caliber cans, too.
Real Bullet Cufflinks
I gave bullet cufflinks to my groomsmen as part of their gift box. Guaranteed to get lots of remarks at the next social event.

There are a couple of variations, but unless your gun lover has really large wrists, I will stay away from shotgun shell (12 gauge) cufflinks.
Cleaning Mat

Does your special someone like to clean their guns?
TekMats lets them do it in style and protects surfaces from cleaning solutions and powder gunk.

There are different diagrams for specific guns so they get disassembly correct, or more generic ones if you don't know what they are packing.
Magpul DAKA Pouches
Magpul is the go-to company for gun magazines and accessories...
But they also have an awesome line of pouches called DAKA.
I have a bunch of them ranging from smaller see-through ones I use for small pieces in my range bag...

To larger ones I actually use to hold my Nintendo Switch.
Whatever size you're looking for...there's likely a DAKA pouch that will meet your needs. They are sleek and made out of a rubbery material that's waterproof and water-repellant zippers.

$25 - $50 Gifts for Gun Lovers
AR-15 Specific Cleaning Kit

Another great option from GuardTech is their AR-15-centric kit that comes with a surprisingly nice brass cleaning rod and everything else you need to clean your AR (besides oil and cleaner).

MagLula Magazine Loader
Ok...it doesn't look like much...but the MagLula is one of the most precious things you can have in your range bag.

Loading pistol mags by hands suck.
This makes it so much faster and less painful.
All-in-One Cleaning Kit

My go-to cleaning kit is from GuardTech. Suitable for a wide range of guns.

Pew Pew Tactical Merch
Have a dedicated PPT fan? We have some really nice shirts and hats that make excellent gifts. Our shirts are super comfy and hold up over time. I've been rocking mine for over 5 years!

$50 - $100 Gifts for Gun Lovers
Electronic Hearing Protection

We here at Pew Pew Tactical created our own electronic hearing protection brand...ShellShock Protection.
And our best-selling electronic earmuff is the EXO Pro for $99. Built to sustain our many hours out on the range.

We modified it to include gel earcups as standard to make it super comfortable. It also has an LED indicator and a 28db SNR rating.
Everyday Carry Knife
Everybody can use a handy knife...even if it's to just slay some Amazon boxes.

And my go-to affordable option is the Kershaw Leek.
Super sharp, enough heft to feel quality, fast flip-out, and not the worst feeling in the world if you misplace it.
Tactical & EDC (Every Day Carry) Flashlight
We bought the most popular flashlights and subjected them to torture tests and daily use.

Out of our testing, our team preferred the SureFire G2X Pro for its durability and price point.
It comes in black and desert tan and brings a simple, one-touch operation. It's pretty practical for everyday use.

You can read more about it and others in our Best Tactical Flashlights article.
Rifle Sling
If your buddy has a rifle...go with what we use...a Pew Pew Tactical Edition Flatline Fiber Sling that does everything we think is needed.

Just the right amount of padding so it's comfortable but not so thick it gets in the way. And a nice and slick length adjustment system.

Available in Multicam and Black Multicam.

Gun Belt
Use Code PEWBELT10 for 10% of at our merch store!

You want a stiff gun belt that isn't TOO stiff...and doesn't give off "I Have a Gun" vibes. Having it quickly change sizes on the fly is just extra icing on the cake.

Enter my go-to concealed carry gun belt...the Kore Essentials.
Or do a little more research on it in our Kore Essentials Review.

Accurizing Torque Wrench
If you know your buddy is more hands-on with his guns, this Wheeler torque wrench will enable them to mount scopes and other accessories at the correct poundage to maximize accuracy.

A must-have for any serious precision shooter or builder.
Shooting Gloves

A good pair of gloves is great to have on the range when it's cold outside or just for extra protection. I've been using the SKD PIG FDT Alpha Gloves for years and they are my favorites! Super comfy and very durable.

Check out more options in Best Shooting Gloves.
Everyday Carry Knife
Another knife!
Even if your buddy isn't into the EDC scene...he'll love this Delica 4 knife.
Great blade and super easy to open with a flick of your fingers and wrist.

Take my word for it...5 years and still going strong. More choices in our Best EDC Knives article.

Gun Bag and Shooting Mat
Be sure to use code “PEWPEW10” to get 10% off your order on their site.
The Savior Equipment bags are what I use to carry my long guns to the range.

They come in a variety of colors and styles, but my favorite is the Multicam Black Urban Warfare.
Check out other options in my Best Gun Cases article.
There are also other options, such as the Rifle Rack.

Multitool
Leatherman's best-selling Wave Multitool is what I have in my range bag. Enough said.

Or check out the Skeletool for something lighter (and cooler looking).

See more in our Best Multitools article.
Laser Training
Want them to shoot better?

Get them a laser training cartridge (you'll need to know their handgun caliber) so they can practice and know where they would be hitting.
Then combo it with a Laser Target that reacts.
Vertx Fanny Pack
Vertx's Everyday Fanny Pack is a nice gift for those who want to CCW in a fanny pack. There are plenty of pockets to stow things like a wallet, keys, and a phone. Plus a dedicated area to carry your preferred handgun.
Our Content Producer Sean and our Editor Scott both swear by this fanny pack!

If you have a gun gal in your life or want some other color options, Vertx also offers the Everyday Fanny Pack, which is a similar setup without the front pocket. Lots of room to stow things, but it can also function as a sling bag.
You can read more about the Everyday Fanny in our Best Women's Gear article!

$100+ Gifts For Gun Lovers
Sig Sauer Romeo5

Looking for one of the best red dot under $200? That has to be the Sig Sauer Romeo5...and it's much closer to $100.

40,000+ hours on one battery means you can leave it on a normal setting and then forget it...which is what we do.
Plus crisp glass and dot that bats way above its price range.
If your intended gift recipient has multiple guns...you can't go wrong with this. See our full review.
Combo Eyes & Ears
Back to what every person needs at the range...eye and ear protection.
ShellShock Protection's overall best-seller are the combo kits...especially the Premium Eyes & Ears which pairs our EXO Pro electronic earmuffs with our Switch Ballistic Glasses that come with both smoke & clear lenses.

Great if your special someone shoots both indoors and out.
Pistol Case
Great for protecting some handguns or suppressors. Your gun lover will find some use for it!

IFAK Medical Kit
A good IFAK or first aid kit is essential for range days -- honestly, it's just good to have around in general. One of the more recent ones I have tried out is the RTS Tactical Rapid Deploy IFAK.

Its design is easy to use, and it comes stocked with what you need to take care of massive bleeding.
You can read more about it in the Best IFAKs.
Tactical Watches
The Suunto Core (Black on Black) came highly recommended, and it's what our CEO Eric has worn for the past six years.

He loves the look and the measurements it can take (altimeter, barometer, compass, temperature). The downside is that the black-on-black can sometimes be hard to read, and he says he has had to replace the battery every year.
If you have a gun girl in your life who needs a watch, I like the Garmin Instinct 2s. It offers solar charging and is durable enough to wear to the range.
Check out the rest in our Best Tactical Watches.
Weapons Flashlight

The Streamlight TLR-1 HL is the team's go-to flashlight to put on my pistols.

Bright, robust, and with strobe capability. More choices in Best Pistol Lights.
In-Ear Electronic Ear Protection

Don't want to bother with earmuffs? Check out AXIL's XCOR in-ear protection, which also lets you Bluetooth some tunes while at the range.

More in our Best Shooting Ear Protection.
Pelican Hard Rifle Case

It would probably help to know if your buddy has a rifle and a crappier case.

But if they do...upgrade them!
The Pelican 1700 is the gold standard for hard cases with pressure venting, pickable-foam to fit anything, and rolling wheels.
Lynx Defense Range Bags
If you want a super high-quality bag that will last decades (and I mean decades), we recommend Lynx Defense. The Concord is their staple range bag and is very roomy. It can hold several pistols as well as extra gear like eyes, ears, and spare mags.

It's also pricey, but our Editor-in-Chief has used her Lynx Defense bag for going on 10 years now, and it still looks brand new.
For a smaller option, we recommend the Pistol Range Bag. Or if you prefer a backpack style, the EDC Backpack is another great option.

Gun Safe
My go-to safe for my home defense pistol used to be the Fort Knox FTK-PB...but recently, things have changed. Steelhead Fast Access Pistol Box has given Fort Knox a run for its money, and it's become my go-to.

It brings a more modern look and feel but with the safety of the mechanical Simplex I love.
Check out my full review here.
Or is your buddy super techy and would appreciate a biometric AND Bluetooth-enabled safe?
See it in action:

Full review of the different versions here.
Or how about something tiny and portable? It's what I use to store away my CCW every day...as well as my go-to travel safe. Enter the Vaultek LifePod.

Again I'm a sucker for camo versions. But it's also awesome and roomy inside.

Ract Biometric Rifle & Shotgun Safe

We're currently testing the RACT Biometric Rifle & Shotgun safe -- so far, so good. The system has options for either AR-style rifles or long guns. Designed for fast access, RACT uses a fingerprint sensor to secure the gun but allows you to unlock it in 0.2 seconds. It can store up to 10 fingerprints, so other adults in the house have access.

It's a decent option for those who want security without trading access.
Reach 2S

Another option we're testing when it comes to fast access is the Reach 2S. This one is designed for handguns. It uses a similar fingerprinting system that, again, stores up to 10 fingerprints. The Reach does offer a mechanical override if you need that, though.

It's compatible with most popular handgun brands, including Glock, Sig, Ruger, S&W, Springfield, and more.
Vertx Gamut
Vertx's new Gamut series looks pretty incognito - but looks can be deceiving. This CCW bag series comes in a variety of sizes (18L/22L Sling and 22L/26L/36L Backpack), so you can fine-tune the size you need.

I got the 18L Sling in Evergreen (olive green) and the 26L Backpack in Depth Charge (navy) because I like a little versatility.
The Sling is perfect for days when I'm out around town with the kids and need a smaller bag to carry all the stuff in. The Backpack is great for travel since it's a lot roomier.

Both offer a variety of features that gun owners will love. There's plenty of storage space/pockets, a water bottle area, lots of hook-and-loop to hang mag pouches or a holster onto, and a ballistic panel compartment for body armor.

Maven CRF.1 Rangefinder
The Maven CRF.1 Rangefinder is a great gift for the hunter or recreational shooter in your life.
This rangefinder is a great value and brings with it crisp views with three different reticle options. It's easy to use, very accurate, and a nice addition to a range bag or hunting pack.

You can read more about it (and other models) in the Best Rangefinders!
Chronograph
If you have a serious shooter in your life, a chronograph makes an excellent gift. A lot of shooters don't think about one, but they come in handy.
Our team really likes the Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph. It tested well (you can read our review here), and it's what we use in a lot of our reviews.

That said, if the price is too steep, Athlon Optics Rangecraft is a more budget-friendly option. In the words of our Editor, Scott, who is currently testing it, the Athlon is "similar in design and functionality."

Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6x24mm
If you're in the market for a scope, a hot one right now is the Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24mm.
Vortex is known for quality products at a reasonable price, and the Razor lineup nests neatly in that category. With three different reticle types to choose from, the SFP Razor brings crisp views and a nice resolution.
I Have No Idea...I Need Gift Cards
Ok, no judgment. Sometimes it is best to let them choose their own gift. These are my go-to places for everything gun.
- Amazon (accessories)
- Brownells (tools + parts)
- Cabelas (clothing + ammo + other outdoors stuff)
- GrabAGun (guns, gear, accessories)
- Lynx Defense (backpacks, range bags, rifle and shotgun bags)
- MidwayUSA (guns, gear, ammo, and accessories)
Final Thoughts
