Personally, I don’t just have one EDC set of items.
Maybe it’s the Boy Scout in me, but I change what I carry depending on what my day is likely to entail.
But generally, I have two main sets of items. I’ll call them my “EDC Lite” and my “EDC Heavy” sets.
We’ll keep it simple today and just look at my “EDC Lite” pocket dump.
EDC Lite
My “Lite” set of EDC is normally going to the store, going to my FFL, or doing going out to eat/movie/etc.
1. Bersa Firestorm .380
I like this little gun a lot, it’s manual of arms is one I am familiar with, easy to conceal no matter what I want to wear, lightweight and highly reliable. And paired with the right ammo, .380 is a cartridge I feel good carrying. But more on that later.

2. Magazines, 2 of them
One in the pistol, one on my body. Both are Bersa made, both are 8-shot magazines. Since the extra magazine is so small and easy to carry, I often just drop it into a deep pocket and forget about it.
3. Alien Gear Holster for Bersa Thunder .380
Great retention, very comfy to wear for hours on end, and it was a decent price – basically everything I look for in a CCW holster. Note that the holster says it is for the Thunder, but my Firestorm fits perfectly also.
DSG Arms also sent me one of their CDC CCW Holsters for my Bersa and I’ve been using it off and on depending on what I am wearing. I like it because it is smaller than my Alien Gear holster but still provides the retention that I want.
4. Sig Sauer V-Crown .380 ACP
Just to be clear, I put a box in the picture but I don’t actually carry a box with me. This is what I load in my two magazines.
Sig Sauer makes some great ammo and their V-Crown .380 ACP is absolutely amazing. But you don’t have to take my word for it, take a look at Lucky Gunner’s testing data about it.
.380 ACP is a borderline cartridge when it comes to defensive use. It can be effective, but it requires that you be careful in ammo choice. My personal research showed Sig’s V-Crown to be one of the most reliable and proved to have consistent expansion.
Thankfully, my Bersa also likes the ammo a lot. Several hundred rounds with zero malfunctions plus very respectable accuracy.
5. Gerber Multitool
I honestly don’t know why I carry this.
Carrying a multitool is just something I’ve done since I was a kid, I don’t remember why I started – but I never stopped. I also don’t remember the last time I used a multitool when I wasn’t at the shooting range (and I carry a different one in my range bag that I use for that, the Real Avid Gun Tool Max).

Still, I don’t think I’ll stop carrying it. This one is nice, small, well-built.

6. Kershaw Clash Black Serrated Knife
I’ve been carrying this knife for a little over 2 years now, as a knife I like it.
Small-ish, keeps a decent edge, works when I need it. And it was fairly cheap. I tend to lose knives…a lot, so any EDC knife I get has to cheap since I assume I’ll have to replace it before it wears out…it’s honestly amazing that I haven’t lost this one yet.

When I do, I think I’ll get another one since it really does fit my needs well.
7. Wallet
I didn’t know this until I started writing this article but it turns out I bought this wallet back in 2014.
5 years of bumping around my pockets, traveling with me nationally and internationally, hundreds of range trips, and it barely shows any wear…damned impressive for a $25 wallet.
8. Keys/Metro Card/Office Security Card
Ya…keys…and a holder for my metro card and the security card for our office building’s elevator…cool, right?
9. Glock Pen
So these aren’t for sale, as far as I can find. These are Glock Pens that Glock gives out at trade shows like TriggrCon and SHOT.
And I grab these by the handful whenever I see them. Normally, I’m not a Glock person, their guns don’t fit my hands well and I find them aesthetically unpleasing.
But I really love their pen swag. Thick pen, smooth ink, extra wide and durable clip thing, I’m not joking when I say – I love these pens.
If you happen to find yourself in front of a Glock booth, ask for a pen.
10. Typhoon Triple Flame Torch Lighter
A lighter is a handy thing to have with you for a wide range of reasons.
I also smoke cigars so I choose to carry a good triple flame torch lighter. It’s a little on the heavy side, but it’s handy and never fails to light my cigars. Plus, it has a cigar punch built into the bottom of the lighter so I don’t need to carry around an extra punch or guillotine clipper.

David, how exactly are you carrying those spare mags daily? Don’t see a holster for them and they are “as new” condition. Good on you for gearing up, but maybe trade in one of those mags for some OC, TQ or a defensive flashlight?
Only one mag, normally just dropped into a pocket.
Thanks!
You find Glocks aesthetically unpleasing but you like that plate-of-spaghetti Bersa?
Well, there’s no accounting for taste.
Until Walther decides to finally make an updated PPK, the Bersa is as close as it gets for me. I dig it.
