Any time I see a serialized trigger group, my gears start turning. It’s a blank canvas for creating new firearms – as long as other manufacturers get on board, that is.

Now, the JL Billet Reaper chassis is available for the Ruger RXM. That means you can turn your compact carry pistol into a beefed-up personal defense weapon in a matter of seconds. You don’t even need to hassle with an FFL to do it!

The Reaper chassis is compatible with the Ruger RXM trigger group, slide, and magazines. Using it basically means swapping out the factory grip module.

Since the RXM is a clone of third-generation Glocks, you can also use Glock 19 Gen 3 and Glock 17 Gen 3 slides and magazines with the Reaper.

Unlike many pistol-based chassis systems, this one isn’t polymer; it’s carved from a block of aircraft-grade aluminum and then anodized (I sure would like some more color options down the road).

The Reaper includes a manually deployable brace, removable blast shroud, manual cross-bar safety, and room for a spare magazine. There’s also a left-side QD point for adding a single-point sling.

With the brace folded, the system measures just 9.68 inches long and 1.65 inches wide. That makes it pretty compelling for concealed carry in a small CCW backpack or sling.

You can run the same red dot on your slide as you normally do, and the Picatinny rail makes installing a light quick and easy.

JL Billet lists an MSRP of $479.95 for the Reaper  RXM chassis, but introductory pricing is listed as $459.95.
