If you want an ultralight hunting rifle forged from carbon fiber, rare earth minerals, and unicorn feathers, you’ve got options for days in 2024. The same goes for scopes that can spot a tick on a trophy buck from across the cornfield.

The entry-level Axis XP comes with a black synthetic stock and a 3-9x40 scope. It is available in 18 chamberings, including straight-walled cartridges like .400 Legend.

Next up is the Axis 2. This one doesn’t come with a scope, but it does have mounts, and you can choose from gray, OD green, and FDE stocks. It also features Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger.

The Axis 2 XP combines the AccuTrigger and 3-9x40 scope. Stock options include gray, OD green, FDE, and hardwood (designated as the Axis 2 XP Hardwood). Opting for real wood results in the most expensive rifle in the new Axis series, with an MSRP of $689.

At the top of the food chain is the Axis 2 Pro. Savage treats this rifle to woodland or western camouflage, bronze Cerakote on exterior metal components, a one-piece Picatinny rail, and a threaded barrel.

All in all, it’s a pretty comprehensive lineup that should satisfy most value-minded hunters.
