Daniel Defense’s Mk18 runs extremely well. It’s a blast to shoot and handled well in CQB-type training scenarios. We’ve put well over 1,000 rounds through our model, and it’s still running like it did day one. We did have a little trouble with DD proprietary mags — but that was managed by removing a couple of rounds and gently seating it into the magwell. PMAGs run great, though!
The Mk18 is a fun pistol or SBR option (depending on what you prefer). Chambered in 5.56 NATO, it offers a 10.3-inch barrel on a 28.6-inch overall length. Pistol versions sport an SB-Tactical pistol stabilizing brace (keep an eye out, though, as laws may be changing there).
It disappeared for a bit…but it’s back. The Python has made a triumphant return and builds onto Colt’s Snake Gun series. This revolver is a decent wheelgun that admittedly had some kinks on first launch, but those seem to be worked out. It offers a modern stainless steel barrel while keeping to that classic Python look. It’s accurate and a stunningly fun gun to shoot.
Yes, it looks like an Ugg boot…now with that out of the way, the FN SCAR 17S is a nifty rifle that will make all your range mates jealous. Though it feels clunky, and there’s not a ton of aftermarket here, it brings a smooth, reliable shooting experience. Plus, it’s just fun. The folding stock makes it easy to tote to and from the range. It also has rails for optics but beware it will destroy cheap optics. Only the finest of glass here.
The FN SCAR 17S is chambered in .308 and offers a reliable rifle with a folding stock. It features a 16.25-inch barrel with 1:12 RH twist and a magazine capacity of 10 or 20 rounds, depending on your state. It’s a clunky 8 pounds, but shoots well and performs reliably.
Bergara makes some of the best barrels in the business, and their complete rifles are just as good. The HMR (Hunting and Match Rifle) allows the user the flexibility to have an effective hunting and target rifle in a single package without sacrificing too much either way. Impressive accuracy, a quality stock/chassis combo, and a crisp trigger make this gun a clear winner.
The Mossberg Maverick 88 is the true everyman’s shotgun. It is affordable, reliable, durable, and is built on the design of one of the most proven shotguns in the world. This is the ultimate bang for your buck in the shotgun world and possibly one of the best deals in the firearms world as a whole.
The Browning BAR Mark III is an elegant and effective hunting rifle. The semi-automatic gas-operated design allows for a softer recoil impulse, even when using magnum cartridges. As with most Browning products, beautiful wood and high-luster bluing really make this rifle pop.
The CZ Bren 2 MS is a well-executed AR-15 alternative. It utilizes a short-stroke gas piston system and features a folding stock, fully ambidextrous controls, and excellent ergonomics. This gun is reliable, comfortable, and suppresses well, making it a unique-but-effective option for those looking for a different platform than the AR.
The PWS MK116 Pro brings all the great features that PWS is known for to the consumer at a lower price point. This is achieved through the use of an extruded 6061 aluminum upper instead of the standard T6-7075 forged aluminum uppers of their other guns. The end result is still an extremely soft shooting rifle and reliable piston-driven AR-15 that is great for those looking to suppress their guns or who just want something a little different.
