In January, C&H teased us with a new rifle red dot at SHOT Show. It showed that the company is growing and expanding out of its line of pistol optics. Now, midway through the year, the wait is finally over.
The C&H Precision ERD-1 makes it clear that the team in Georgia has been eyeing the competition and packing every feature customers want into an enclosed-emitter red dot that makes the most of your money.

With a CR2032 battery life of 50,000 hours, you can rely on it to be ready when go-time comes around. The optic automatically shuts off after five minutes of inactivity and turns back on with the shake-awake function we’ve come to expect from modern red dots to maximize battery life.
Accuracy can mean different things in different situations. You’ll get a 2-MOA dot for shooting tight groups that’s adjustable in 1-MOA increments. When time is a factor, you can activate a multi-reticle like the ones popularized by Holosun and use a 56-MOA ring around the dot to get on target as quickly as possible.
There are 10 brightness settings (two are compatible with night vision) that you can toggle through with up and down switches on the left side of the optic.
Since the ERD-1 is aimed at the carbine, PCC, and AR pistol markets, it uses a standard Picatinny rail mounting pattern.
C&H Precision lists an MSRP of $494.95 for the ERD-1.
I haven’t gotten my hands on the ERD-1 yet, but I spent several days training with C&H Precision’s pistol optics a few weeks back. They were rock-solid during dynamic day shoots and night shoots, as well as maneuvering in and around vehicles. I even landed a hit on a steel silhouette with a Walther PDP F-Series from about 120 yards away. So yes, they work.
