The Dead Air Silencers Nomax 33 takes everything the company has learned and expands it into a platform capable of handling today’s largest hunting and precision shooting rounds.
“Three years in the making, the Nomax 33 is the design execution of bringing together the most optimized package possible for sound suppression, accuracy, and precision for .338 rifle systems,” Todd Magee, Dead Air Silencers’ director of product design and engineering, said.
“The Nomad baffle system was a no-brainer due to its ability to increase efficiency as pressure rises – while remaining top-tier with subsonic loads. As we went from welded structures to 3D printed monolithic bodies, we were able to make it lighter and stronger to the point that it was easily capable of handling exceptionally powerful cartridges like 338 Lapua Mag and 33XC.”
Additive manufacturing (industry speak for 3D printing) allows Dead Air Silencers to make the titanium Nomax 33 strong while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. Every ounce feels heavier when hanging off the end of a rifle barrel, and a can of this size could do a lot worse than 15 ounces.
A two-stage baffle system reduces sound output and backpressure. Dead Air Silencers lists minimum barrel lengths of 12.5 inches for supersonic ammunition and sic inches for subsonic ammunition.
Just listen to this thing in action. Taming such burly cartridges is no easy feat.
Mounting options include direct-thread, HUB, or Xemax brake or adapter. Take your pick from three bead-blasted satin finishes: raw titanium, black, or flat dark earth.
Dead Air Silencers lists an MSRP of $1,299 for the Nomax 33.
