Magpul has been one of the hottest brands in the world of AR-15 upgrades and accessories for decades. Recently, the Wyoming-based company has been expanding into shotgun and rifle stocks to serve hunting and home defense purposes.
The new Magpul Hunter Lite stock lets hunters customize bolt-action rifles to pack lighter, explore further, and bring home more game animals.
This synthetic stock only weighs 2.8 pounds, so it will be a worthwhile upgrade for hunters who are used to lugging around a rifle with heavy walnut stock.
It’s compatible with left- and right-handed actions and comes with buttstock spacers to adjust the length of pull from 13 to 15 inches in half-inch increments. The comb height can be increased with a snap-on cheek riser.

Aluminum bedding and steel action pillars indicate that this will be a stable, accurate platform for making the kind of long-distance shots that make western hunts so exciting. Magpul designed the oversized trigger guard with gloved hands in mind.
The stock comes with sling swivels and M-LOK mounting points for a bipod or other accessories.
The forend is open enough to accommodate barrel profiles up to medium Palma. The magazine well works with AICS-pattern magazines.

At launch, the Hunter Lite is only available for Savage Arms AXIS short-action rifles, but Magpul promises that there are more options on the way. Based on the product page on Magpul’s website, it looks like we’ll get flat dark earth, gray, and olive drab green in addition to the black stock that’s out right now.
Lightweight hunting rifles are all the rage right now. Factory rifles like the Savage 110 Ultralite Elite, Springfield 2020 Redline, and Weatherby 307 Alpine MDT slash weight without sacrificing performance, allowing hunters to hike further into the backcountry and save their energy for hauling out packs full of meat.
Aftermarket stocks like the Magpul Hunter Lite allow hunters to trim weight from a rifle without replacing the whole thing.
Magpul lists an MSRP of $219 for the Hunter Lite stock.
