When it comes to polymer firearm accessories, we have all kinds of color options. Do you want black, olive drab green, or flat dark earth? You’ve got it.
Clear polymer gets a bad rap because many people consider it vulnerable to UV degradation. Simply put, it’s not strong enough. That was the previous thinking, anyway.
Magpul just dropped the new TMAG 30 AR-15 magazine that’s somehow both translucent and strong enough to meet the military’s standards for durability and reliability.

The Magpul TMAG 30 (based on the PMAG AR/M4 Gen M3) uses a see-through polymer with a slight OD green hue. Since you can see everything inside the magazine – not just a sliver of the casings, like on the PMAG 30 Window – you can keep an eye on the round count and identify which ammunition is in each magazine.
A white painted coil on the spring and “gas gauge” markings on the side of the magazine let you see how many rounds are left, even when the last few are hidden inside the magazine well.
A lot of savvy shooters mark magazines to indicate what’s inside – think 55-grain M193 or 62-grain M855 green tips, for example. But what if there’s a mix-up? Now you know for sure because you can see the entire cartridge.
You can still mark the TMAG with a paint pen if you want. The molded grid pattern near the bottom is helpful for perfectionists or those with less-than-ideal handwriting.
Several characteristics got carried over from the tried-and-true PMAG. You’ll get the same four-way anti-tilt follower, stainless steel spring, and a floor plate compatible with Magpul’s existing line of PMAG accessories.
The TMAG 30 is designed for 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem ammunition and is compatible with firearms using the AR-15 platform.
Magpul lists an MSRP of $23.95 for the TMAG.
Keep in mind that Magpul sells separate magazines for 5.56 NATO and .300 BLK. I bet we’ll see the TMAG line expand into higher-capacity versions and more cartridge offerings soon.

When I first saw the photo it reminded me of the old Ram-Line Combo Mag.
