For some shooters, especially those who carry a pistol for a living, Safariland is the first choice in holster manufacturers. Now, Safariland loyalists have another option when it comes to choosing a home for their sidearm.
Safariland just updated its 6000 series of holsters with a new duty-rated 6360RDS model compatible with the Walther PDP.

This new duty holster offers level-three retention with Safariland’s self-locking system (SLS) and automatic locking system (ALS). It’s compatible with red dots as well as a range of popular weapon lights from Inforce, Insight Technology, Nightstick, Olight, Streamlight, and Surefire (or you can get a holster without room for a light). The inside of the holster is lined with suede to protect your pistol from holster rash.
As with other Safariland holsters, you can use the included belt loop attachment or swap it out for another mounting mechanism.

At launch, holsters are available for 4- and 4.5-inch slides. An extended holster for the 5-inch PDP is on the way, so there’s no excuse not to treat yourself to a PDP Match.
“Safariland is committed to delivering superior products that meet our customers’ demands,” Eric Gasvoda, the general manager of duty gear for Safariland, said. “Our customers have been eagerly awaiting the release of a 6000 series holster for the Walther PDP, and we are proud to deliver a holster that meets their evolving needs.”
There are a few factors that influence a new pistol’s success. The first is cartridge selection. If you can’t easily buy ammo for it, you’re not going to buy it (R.I.P. 357 SIG, you were too good for this world). The second is support from the holster market. An awesome pistol isn’t much use if we don’t have a convenient way to carry it.
According to conversations I’ve had with people at Walther, the company only makes up about 3% of the U.S. pistol market. That’s a small group of customers, and it can be hard for holster manufacturers to justify product development for such a limited return when they could be kicking back and churning out more Sig Sauer and Glock holsters.
Safariland putting its weight behind the PDP is a strong endorsement. The new 6360RDS is a great holster for a great pistol, and we all win when manufacturers compete for our business.
Safariland lists a starting MSRP of $214.50 for the 6360RDS.
