Savage just announced a new hunting rifle dripping with top-shelf components pulled from the world of precision shooting.
The Savage 110 Ultralite Elite aims to help hunters hike deeper into the backcountry and make better shots than a conventional bolt gun.
The 110 Ultralite Elite uses Savage’s 110 action, a modular MDT chassis instead of a stock, and enough Cerakote and carbon fiber to justify the lofty price tag.
Shooters can pick from six popular big game cartridges, bolt on favorite accessories, and punch some tags.

The 110 Ultralite Elite may be a new model in Savage’s lineup, but many of its components are shared with rifles we know and love.
The folding buttstock and carbon fiber components keep size and weight to a minimum for multi-day climbs into remote areas in search of big game. The chassis is adjustable for comb height and length of pull, so you can get a perfect fit like you would with a precision rifle.
The AccuTrigger is adjustable from 4 pounds all the way down to 1.5 pounds. Cartridge offerings include 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, 6.5 PRC, 7mm PRC, .300 Win Mag, and .300 WSM, so there should be something to satisfy just about everyone.
There’s plenty of room for customization, too. Mounting a scope on the 20-MOA Picatinny rail is a simple DIY job (as long as you’re careful and use a torque wrench).
The carbon fiber forend of the chassis has M-LOK, QD, and ARCA mounting points in addition to traditional sling studs. The 20-inch barrel (18 inches on rifles chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor and 308 Win) comes with an Omniport muzzle brake, but you can unscrew it to install a suppressor on the 5/8×24 threads.
“The 110 Ultralite Elite represents a significant leap forward in our commitment to delivering cutting-edge and innovative firearms to our customers,” Beth Shimanski, the director of marketing at Savage Arms, said.
“We are thrilled to partner with PROOF Research and MDT to create a firearm that combines exceptional accuracy and durability with a lightweight design. The 110 Ultralite Elite is built to match the conditions of any extreme outdoor trek and can provide hunters with a tool to tackle any big game pursuit.”
The line between hunters and precision shooters is getting increasingly blurry. It’s not uncommon to see chassis guns, folding stocks, suppressors, and technical reticles in the backcountry during hunting season.
The Savage 110 Ultralite Elite joins rifles like the Sig Sauer Cross TRAX and Weatherby 307 Alpine MDT in this growing segment.
Savage lists an MSRP of $3,299 for the 110 Ultralite Elite.
