Sometimes, less is more. That’s especially true when you’re carrying a rifle further than from your car to the firing line at your local range.
Featherweight rifles are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, but that comes in the form of carbon fiber, expensive alloys, and hefty price tags – most of the time.
The all-new Savage Arms Timber Series offers 12 rimfire rifles for plinking, varmint hunting, and backcountry fun. They’re light enough to carry all day and come at prices that the average shooter can afford to spend on a fun gun.

The Timber series includes the Timber Thumbhole, Timberlite, and Timberlite Thumbhole. All models are available in both the Savage Arms’ A Series semi-automatic rifles and B Series bolt-action rifles.
All Timber rifles come with Savage’s AccuTrigger, a 20-MOA Picatinny rail, a 10-round rotary magazine, and a threaded barrel. It has enough features to make them feel (and presumably shoot) great without blowing the budget.
Rifles with a thumbhole stock come with a trigger that’s adjustable from 2.5 to 6 pounds, whereas rifles with a traditional stock let you adjust the trigger from 1.5 to 4 pounds.
Cartridge options include .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR.
This new Timber series is perfect for every Savage shooter from seasoned marksmen to newcomers just getting their start,” said Savage’s rimfire product manager, Brett McKenna. “The three available lines provide users with options to match their preference, whether that is a classic wood stock or a lightweight option that does not compromise durability. The Timber Series promises an unparalleled shooting experience, we’re thrilled to finally announce this extension to the Savage line.”
Savage lists a starting MSRP of $478 for their Timber-series rifles.
