What are ballistic glasses? To count as eye protection, glasses have to meet either the civilian sector’s ANSI Z87.1+ standard or the U.S. military’s MIL-PRF 32432A standard. Cloak glasses satisfy both.
Part of that is due to materials. During product testing, an independent lab made sure the polycarbonate lenses could stop .15-caliber projectiles at up to 725 feet per second to simulate shrapnel.
The other part is coverage. Some eye protection can stop shrapnel but it doesn’t wrap around your face to offer protection from the sides. Cloak’s TR90 frames have you covered from all angles, and there’s a removable sweat-resistant seal that adds padding and tighter coverage.
The polarized lenses have FogGuard Pro treatment and work with screens, so you can still use your phone for, say, looking up ballistic data or picking the next shooting drill.
The nose piece is adjustable and the temples are rubber-coated to stay put when you start moving around. Black frames come with smoke or green mirror lenses. Olive drab frames come with smoke lenses.
ShellShock lists a starting MSRP of $99 for Cloak Ballistic Glasses.
