The people at Taurus say that the first rule of gunfighting is to have a gun. I can’t argue with that logic.

If finding a way to conceal your pistol is a barrier to carrying it every day, the company’s latest release should fix what ails you because it’s positively minuscule.

    Taurus 22TUC Lifestyle

The Taurus 22TUC is tiny, light, and low on power. But, as anyone who carries a .22 for self-defense will tell you, it sure is better at protecting you than a stern warning or a knuckle sandwich.

The biggest (smallest?) case for the 22TUC is its size. The pistol measures five inches long, just over four inches high, and weighs a paltry 10 ounces.

You can conceal this thing just about anywhere. It opens up the CCW possibilities for all kinds of outfits, like formal attire and gym clothes.

It also uses a tip-up action, so you don’t have to rack the slide to load the first round into the chamber. If you have issues with grip strength or dexterity, this is a welcome feature that makes semi-automatic pistols accessible to a wider audience.

    Taurus 22TUC Lifestyle

The 22TUC is chambered for .22 LR. That doesn’t offer much stopping power, but it’s better than nothing. One upside is that you can fit nine rounds in the tiny magazine for a total of 10 rounds on tap.

Other features include a lightweight polymer frame, a stainless steel slide (available with a raw or matte black finish), a manual thumb safety, a double-action-only trigger, and a 2.5-inch barrel that barely protrudes past the trigger guard.

There’s nothing fancy about this pistol, but having another option to defend yourself never hurts. As the Taurus website points out, “The .22 you carry beats the .45 you left at home.”

Taurus lists an MSRP of $333.99 for the 22TUC.

Would like to see a comparison test between the Taurus 22 TUC and Ruger LCP 22 which is about same size holding 1 more round or any thoughts from folks that have tried both.

This looks like a fun range gun! The price is surprisingly low and its accessibility to folks with mobility or strength limitations is admirable.

But for most self defense uses… the S&W Bodyguard 2.0 is just as, if not more concealable (lighter, shorter height), higher capacity, and has the advantage of a more reliable and higher energy centerfire cartridge.

Looks like an update of the PLY 22 from years back.

Nice and light, looked cool but was not very reliable (IME).

This one looks lathe same but with new styling and more mim parts.

Proof will be in the shooting evaluation.
