The people of Barneveld, Wisconsin, have been busy this year. They’ve given us new pistol red dots, spotting scopes, and rifle scopes – all in the first six months. Now, Vortex is updating a few existing products with tactical and practical perks.
Vortex recently announced a flat dark earth version of its flagship AMG UH-1 Gen II holographic sight.
The company also rolled out custom turrets for select Razor HD and Viper HD scopes. We’ll dig into why that matters in a minute.
Vortex AMG UH-1 Gen II Specs & Features
Specs
- Magnification: 1x
- Reticle: EBR-CQB
- Adjustment: 1/2-MOA
- Footprint: Picatinny, Weaver
- Length: 3.9”
- Weight: 12 oz
- MSRP: $959.99
Features
- EBR-CQB multi-reticle
- Dedicated button for night vision settings
- Distortion-free optical system
The AMG UH-1 Gen II is the pinnacle of Vortex’s tactical unmagnified optic line. It’s tough as nails, waterproof, low-glare, and mounts to standard Picatinny rails.
You don’t just get the usual one or two night vision-compatible settings; you get eight with the AMG UH-1 Gen II, and there’s a dedicated button to activate them, so you don’t have to tap all the way through your daytime settings to get there.
That button and all the other controls are on the rear of the optic, so you can see what you’re doing without taking your eyes off the target area.

The EBR-CQB reticle has a 1-MOA dot in the center for precise shots, a 65-MOA outer ring for quick close-quarters sight acquisition, and a 12-MOA triangle at the 6 o’clock position for manual offset inside 10 yards.
None of the features we love on the UH-1 have changed; you just get to have them in a sweet FDE ArmorTek finish now.
Let’s see this nearly $1,000 optic in action, shall we?
Vortex Custom Turret Specs & Features
Specs
- Compatibility: Razor HD LHT, Viper HD
- Adjustments: MOA, MRAD
- Return to Zero: Rev Stop
- Ballistic Calculations: GeoBallistics
- MSRP: $79.99
Features
- Precisely matched to your specific rifle, scope, and bullet
- Backed by GeoBallistic data and calculations
- Adjustments validated by Vortex
Just a few months after releasing a new line of Viper HD hunting scopes, Vortex is sweetening the deal with custom turrets.
Using the Vortex custom turret builder, you can engrave an elevation turret for select Viper HD or Razor HD LHT scopes with yardage markings tailored to your rifle and ammunition.
These turrets are only as good as the data you use to build them, so ensure you have solid numbers before placing an order. Vortex has experts who will double-check every order, just in case.
Your scope will still operate in MOA or MRAD; you’ll just dial to a yardage marker on the turret, which will translate to the correct adjustment. Think of it as a speedometer that reads “city,” “county highway,” and “interstate” rather than miles per hour or kilometers per hour.
Precision shooters will want to stick with their existing setup, but hunters will appreciate the ability to go directly from the rangefinder to the turret without referencing a DOPE card or ballistics app.
As usual, Vortex has a great video to break it all down.
Vortex lists an MSRP of $959.99 for the FDE AMG UH-1 and $79.99 for custom turrets.
