Beretta 1301 Tactical 7+1 on Pause Amid Regulatory Issues
One of Beretta’s most popular shotguns, the 1301 Tactical 7+1, is on a production pause as Beretta wrestles with the ATF over regulatory issues.
Due to what Beretta called “an unexpected decision” by the ATF, certain 1301 Tactical components cannot be imported, preventing assembly of the shotgun.
While the pause means no new 1301 Tactical shotguns (7+1 version) can be manufactured, this apparently does not impact existing inventory on dealer shelves. Beretta said it’s working with the ATF to understand and address the ATF’s perceived issues.
“Beretta USA is in active discussions with the ATF to fully understand the scope of these regulatory interpretations,” the gun maker said in a press release. “The company is committed to collaborating with regulatory authorities to resolve this matter and continue serving its valued customers.”

In the meantime, Beretta says it will continue to meet consumers’ needs by quickly pivoting to an alternative ahead of the holiday season. The manufacturer announced a new 1301 model – the Beretta 1301 Tactical C. This shotgun is a 5+1 configuration that will be familiar to 1301 Tactical fans, but it skirts the regulatory issues that the 7+1 currently faces.
“This model maintains the trusted reliability and performance the 1301 Tactical is known for, offering a solution for American gun owners, sports shooters, and self-defense advocates,” Beretta said. “Beretta USA thanks its customers and partners for their support and understanding during this time.”
Gallup Poll Shows Majority of Americans Favor Stricter Gun Laws
A new Gallup poll shows that a majority of Americans support stricter gun laws, including assault weapons bans.
According to Gallup’s October 1-12 Crime Poll, published this week, 56% of adults in the U.S. favor stricter laws when it comes to gun sales, while 52% of Americans support a ban on the manufacture, possession, and sale of so-called assault weapons. It’s worth noting that though a slight majority of adults favor assault weapons bans, that number has decreased – measuring lower than in two previous surveys.
While the majority are in favor of tighter gun laws, support for a handgun ban reached a record low with this most recent poll. Only 20% of Americans felt handguns should be banned, down seven percentage points over last year. Gallup pointed to a decline in support from Democrats for this record low.
“The decline in support for a handgun ban this year is largely owed to Democrats, whose backing has fallen by 16 points since 2023 to 33% — a new low — after the group showed increasing support for a ban the prior two years,” Gallup explained. “Democrats continue to be most supportive of gun control, but even they are much less likely than before to call for banning handguns.”
Along party lines, the statistics are not surprising. 89% of Democrats favor tougher gun laws, while only 25% of Republicans showed support for more gun restrictions. (56% of Independents showed support for tighter restrictions.)
Based on polling, Gallup says the results show that guns are not at the forefront of most Americans’ minds right now, but that could change.
“For now, gun policy does not rank highly among the most important problems on Americans’ minds, but past data show this often changes — at least temporarily — after a high-profile mass shooting event in the U.S.,” Gallup said.
Gallup has tracked Americans’ preference on gun control through polling measures since 1990.
Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation Reaches 30K Milestone
A nonprofit dedicated to preventing firearms accidents among kids has reached a significant milestone, educating over 30,000 children across nine states.
The Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation, founded in 2016, partners with schools, community organizations, and local law enforcement to bring age-appropriate firearm safety education to kids. Through its programs, the Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation teaches kids what to do if they see an unsecured firearm and, beyond that, branches out to situational awareness, critical thinking, and other lifesaving skills.
Founder and President of Kids S.A.F.E. Derek LeBlanc said this milestone is just the beginning.
“We’re thrilled to have reached over 30,000 kids in nine states, but our mission is far from over,” said LeBlanc. “Every child deserves access to safety education, regardless of their family’s views on firearms. Our goal is to empower children to make safe decisions that will save lives.”
